Newly Founded Alba Film Secures Film Rights to Lina Wolff’s August Prize-Winning Novel The Corpses We Planted
The newly established independent production company Alba Film has acquired the film rights to The Corpses We Planted by two-time August Prize-winning author Lina Wolff. The project marks the very first screen adaptation of any of Wolff’s works.
Following strong interest from several parties, the rights were ultimately acquired by Alba Film, founded by producers Teresa Alldén and Anette Brantin.
When Winje Agency and I chose a partner, we considered many aspects, but in the end it came down to instinct. Anette and Teresa’s vision and passion truly stood out.
The Corpses We Planted (2025) has already sold close to 100,000 copies in Sweden, received the 2025 August Prize for Fiction Book of the Year, and been sold to publishers in 17 countries. Lina Wolff is published by Albert Bonniers Förlag and internationally represented by Winje Agency in Oslo.
Alba Film describes the acquisition as a statement in support of artistic freedom at a time when large parts of the film industry are characterized by consolidation and caution.
The fact that Lina has chosen to do this together with a new, independent, female-owned production company feels both courageous and completely natural. It shows that there is still tremendous value in creating films with artistic integrity and respect for the author’s vision.
Financing for the film will begin during the Cannes Film Festival, May 12-23, where Alba Film will present the project to international partners and financiers.
The vision is a bold, visually striking, and darkly humorous film with strong genre influences.
Raw, poetic, daring, unsettling, humorous, and beautiful. Think Kill Bill in the deepest parts of Skåne.
Lina Wolff will also take part in the script development.
We believe cinema audiences are longing for films with edge, personality, and artistic integrity. Lina’s unique ability to portray the dark and forbidden in a humorous and twisted way will be an enormous asset.
Teresa Alldén is currently working on the Netflix documentary The Trustor Scandal. Anette Brantin is in post-production on the feature film Arne Goes to Space, starring Rolf Lassgård and Lennart Jähkel.
